The incident at Radisson Blu comes just a day after another fire broke out in a shop in Old Delhi’s crowded Sadar Bazar area. In that case, a firefighter suffered serious injuries during the rescue operation. The quick succession of these two incidents highlights the need for strict fire safety audits in commercial and hospitality establishments across the city, especially in the summer months when overheating of electrical systems becomes more common.
The Delhi Fire Department is expected to issue further updates after a complete investigation is conducted. Meanwhile, local authorities have praised the swift action of the emergency team and the hotel staff for ensuring there was no harm to guests or employees.
