In the early hours of Sunday, a fire broke out at one of Delhi’s most prominent hotels, the Radisson Blu in Dwarka. According to officials, the blaze started in the sauna room located on the second floor of the hotel, triggering immediate emergency response and momentary concern among guests and staff. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported.

Authorities confirmed that they received a call around 12.17 am alerting them to the fire at the property. Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and successfully contained the flames before they could spread to other parts of the hotel. The affected area was limited to the sauna room, and the rest of the hotel operations remained largely undisturbed. Guests were reportedly safe, and the fire did not impact any residential rooms.

Delhi Fire Service officer Ravi Nath, who was part of the responding team, said that the fire was promptly extinguished and the area secured. He added that a detailed inspection of the site was conducted to ensure there were no hidden embers or additional threats. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but preliminary findings suggest it may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit or overheating of equipment in the sauna room.

While the hotel has yet to release an official statement, sources indicate that protocols were followed efficiently. Guests were informed in a calm and orderly manner, and the hotel’s internal safety systems including alarms and sprinklers played a role in managing the incident until external responders arrived.

The incident at Radisson Blu comes just a day after another fire broke out in a shop in Old Delhi’s crowded Sadar Bazar area. In that case, a firefighter suffered serious injuries during the rescue operation. The quick succession of these two incidents highlights the need for strict fire safety audits in commercial and hospitality establishments across the city, especially in the summer months when overheating of electrical systems becomes more common.

The Delhi Fire Department is expected to issue further updates after a complete investigation is conducted. Meanwhile, local authorities have praised the swift action of the emergency team and the hotel staff for ensuring there was no harm to guests or employees.

As Delhi continues to see a surge in domestic and international visitors, ensuring safety in its hospitality sector remains a top priority. Events like these serve as a reminder that vigilance and preparedness can make all the difference in preventing a small incident from turning into a tragedy.
