Extra Trains For Navratri Devotees
Navratri is one of the busiest travel periods of the year, drawing lakhs of devotees to temples and religious towns across India. To accommodate the surge in passenger traffic, Indian Railways has rolled out dedicated Navratri Puja special trains that will make multiple round trips during the festival season.
Two major services have been announced. The first will connect Prayagraj with Patna, while the second will link Mirzapur with Alamnagar in Lucknow. Each of these trains will run 11 round trips, with one extra service scheduled in early October to help manage the return rush.
Prayagraj To Patna Special Service
The Prayagraj Patna Navratri special train will operate between September 22 and October 1, with an additional journey on October 6. Departing Prayagraj at 11:15 in the morning, the train will arrive in Patna by 8:15 in the evening. For the return trip, it will leave Patna at 9 pm and reach Prayagraj early the next day at 6:20 am.
This route has been planned with halts at key stations, including Naini, Meja Road, Manda Road, Vindhyachal, Mirzapur, Chunar, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Buxar, Ara, and Danapur. These stops ensure that devotees travelling to important shrines and pilgrimage towns can board and alight conveniently.
Mirzapur To Lucknow Connection
The second Navratri special train will operate between Mirzapur and Alamnagar in Lucknow. Services will run from September 22 to October 1, with one additional trip on October 6. The return service from Alamnagar to Mirzapur will operate between September 23 and October 2, with the last trip on October 7.
As per the schedule, the train will depart Mirzapur at 4:05 in the evening and reach Alamnagar by 11:25 at night. On the return leg, the train will leave Alamnagar at 1 am and arrive back in Mirzapur by 8 am. This route too will cover several important halts, making it accessible for travellers heading to religious centres.
Affordable Travel For Festive Rush
Every year, Navratri witnesses a massive influx of devotees heading to places like Vindhyachal in Uttar Pradesh and Patna in Bihar. With crowds often overwhelming regular services, these unreserved trains provide a practical solution for managing the surge. They ensure that devotees can travel without the stress of overcrowding and last minute ticket shortages.
By focusing on affordability and accessibility, Indian Railways is making sure that pilgrims can celebrate Navratri with ease. The special trains not only serve as a reliable means of transport but also help connect smaller towns and religious hubs with major cities.
