A new chapter in eco smart travel is about to begin with the Delhi Dehradun Expressway. Slashing travel time from over six hours to just two and a half, this road is not only fast but also thoughtfully designed with nature in mind. The expressway will feature a 14 km wildlife underpass, believed to be the longest in Asia, allowing animals like elephants and deer to safely pass beneath the speeding traffic.

This tunnel is more than just a structure. It is a bold example of how infrastructure and conservation can thrive together. Camera traps have already captured animals using the corridor, proving that the forest is being respected even as concrete roads make their way through it.

The expressway, officially named National Highway 709B, begins at Akshardham in Delhi and travels through Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur before reaching Dehradun. A small stretch near Dehradun is already open to the public, offering a glimpse of what the complete experience will feel like.

But the real charm lies ahead. For those looking to escape to Mussoorie, an elevated 26 km stretch is being built to connect the expressway directly to the hill station. This means smoother access to the hills without the usual congestion that slows down many trips.

The expressway is a rare combination of speed, safety, and sustainability. By making space for both vehicles and wildlife, it sets a new standard for future road projects across India.
