Singapore just gave another reason to love long layovers. Starting from August 1, 2025, transit passengers passing through Changi Airport will be able to step out of the terminal and dive into one of the city’s most vibrant destinations Sentosa Island, without spending a single dollar. The newly launched Free Singapore Tour Sentosa Edition is a thoughtful initiative by the Singapore Tourism Board and Changi Airport Group designed to turn a few spare hours into an unforgettable tropical escape.
The tour has been crafted for those with layovers of at least five and a half hours, providing enough time to experience the charm of Sentosa without the stress of cutting it too close to your next flight. Lasting two and a half hours, the Sentosa Discovery Tour is fully guided and allows passengers to explore the beauty, energy, and culture of this lively island destination. Known for its resorts, entertainment attractions, and beachfront energy, Sentosa is a favorite among both locals and tourists.
The tour begins with panoramic views of Singapore’s southern coastline, offering a scenic welcome before heading deeper into the island. One of the tour’s major highlights is Sentosa Sensoryscape, a newly developed 350-metre immersive walkway connecting Resorts World Sentosa to the beach. Here, passengers can stroll through a series of sensory gardens that merge technology and nature. With ambient soundscapes, floral projections, and illuminated greenery, this pathway is a serene and stunning representation of Sentosa’s innovative design and tropical environment.
Another exciting stop is Resorts World Sentosa, a leisure and entertainment hub that features some of Singapore’s biggest attractions. While passengers will not have time for rides, they will still be able to walk around the complex and even grab a selfie with the famous spinning globe at Universal Studios Singapore. It is a perfect memory to take home from what would otherwise be just a long wait at the airport.
The tour also takes guests to Siloso Beach, which brings a livelier energy into the experience. Known for its beach clubs, volleyball action, and water sports, Siloso Beach is ideal for catching the buzz of local recreation. Whether you want to watch the waves, snap a photo with palm-lined shores, or simply soak up some sunlight, this part of the tour adds a refreshing change from the usual sterile airport setting.
There is also a limited-time bonus for those traveling before the end of August. Visitors on the tour will be treated to a special stop at a Peranakan light installation a celebration of Singapore’s cultural roots. With its vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and storytelling through light projections, the display serves as a visual tribute to the country’s heritage.
For those who want to elevate the experience even further, the tour offers an optional upgrade. Guests can purchase tickets to Wings of Time, a dramatic open-air night show set along Sentosa’s coastline. With fireworks, laser projections, and musical storytelling against a backdrop of sea and sky, the show offers a dazzling conclusion to the quick visit. Though it is not included in the free tour, this upgrade is available during the experience and is well worth considering for those with a longer stopover.
Changi Airport has consistently ranked among the best airports in the world, and this new tour only reinforces its reputation for passenger care and innovation. The Sentosa Island tour gives travelers a chance to feel the rhythm of Singapore, even if only for a few hours. It adds depth to the journey, turning waiting time into adventure.
