A Major Boost To Southeast Asia Connectivity
IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has announced the launch of daily direct flights between Mumbai and Denpasar (Bali) beginning October 18, 2025. Operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, the new route builds on the carrier’s existing Bengaluru to Bali service, strengthening its expanding Southeast Asia network. The decision reflects the rising demand among Indian travellers for direct and convenient access to Bali, one of the world’s most beloved island destinations.
Bookings are already open across IndiGo’s website, mobile app, and travel partners. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Sales at IndiGo, expressed confidence that the new connection will be welcomed by travellers across leisure and group segments. “With the launch of daily flights to Bali from Mumbai, we now connect two major metros to one of Southeast Asia’s most popular destinations. Our goal is to make travel more accessible, seamless, and affordable while expanding our footprint across international markets,” he said.
Why Bali Remains A Top Choice For Indians
Bali’s charm has always struck a chord with Indian travellers. From serene beaches and ancient temples to cultural experiences and vibrant nightlife, the island offers something for every type of tourist. Beyond leisure, Bali has also emerged as a hub for destination weddings, wellness retreats, and luxury escapes, supported by Indian-friendly visa policies and strong infrastructure for international tourism.
The new Mumbai connection ensures that not only holidaymakers but also families, wedding groups, and business travellers can enjoy smoother access to Bali without having to rely on multiple stopovers. For a market as large as Mumbai’s, this direct route is expected to drive a surge in outbound travel to Indonesia.
Expanding International Horizons For IndiGo
The Mumbai to Bali launch comes at a time when IndiGo is aggressively scaling up its global presence. With the rising appetite for international leisure travel, the airline has been expanding into markets across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Bali, often described as the crown jewel of Indonesia, remains one of the most sought-after destinations in this region, making IndiGo’s move a strategic step in consolidating its international growth.
What Travellers Can Expect
With daily flights, travellers can enjoy flexibility in planning their Bali holidays. The Airbus A320 aircraft on this route is expected to offer comfort and efficiency, catering to a mix of budget-conscious and premium travellers. The timing also aligns with the growing trend of Indians opting for short-haul international destinations for both quick getaways and longer immersive holidays.
The Bigger Picture
The addition of this route positions IndiGo as a key player in connecting Indian travellers to Southeast Asia’s top tourist hubs. As Bali continues to attract Indians with its mix of beaches, culture, and spirituality, the convenience of direct flights from both Mumbai and Bengaluru makes travel more seamless than ever before.
For those dreaming of sunsets on Seminyak beach, yoga retreats in Ubud, or wedding celebrations overlooking cliffs in Uluwatu, IndiGo’s new service unlocks fresh opportunities to explore Indonesia’s most famous island.
